Jónas Reynir Gunnarsson
Jónas Reynir Gunnarsson was born in 1987.
He holds an M.A. in creative writing from the University of Iceland and has published poems in the Icelandic magazines Tímarit Máls og Menningar and Stúdentablaðið, the latter of which also awarded him their annual poetry prize in 2014. In 2015 he won the annual playwrighting competition of the Theatre & Performance Production department at the Iceland Arts Academy which staged his play Við deyjum á mars (We Die on Mars). That same year his first short story, Þau stara á mig (They Stare At Me), was published by Partus forlag.
In 2017, Jónas’ first poetry book, Leiðarvísir um þorp, his second poetry book, Stór olíuskip – which was awarded the City of Reykjavík's annual Tómas Guðmundsson literary prize – and his first novel, Millilending, were published by Partus forlag in Iceland. The novel is due to be published in Danish translation in Denmark by Gyldendal and in English translation in the United Kingdom by Partus Press.
